A mate just gave me a Minitar Access Point, but didn't have the instruction manual.

Call me blind or stupid, but I can't find it anywhere.

Is it downloadable?

Thanks

What would you like to know? Probably the default IP address it listens on and the default username / password to access the config page?
I'll post those tonight if no one else does before hand. I can't remember the defaults and need to look at the manual.
serialmonkey
The instruction manual isn't available in a soft copy.

What can we help you with ?

Ok, well firstly, I'm a noob smile.gif

I need to know the default IP (and port) it listens on and the default login and password for the config page wink.gif

That'd be a good start.

Basically, I have a 4-port Cisco 837 modem/router and want to attach the AP to it so that I'm running everything wireless.

Nothing fancy.

Thanks for your help

Can anyone help with this query?

Thanks

Default IP after factory reset is 192.168.2.1

Default username/password is admin/1234

I'm still not able to use the AP.

Can somebody please tell me the address for accessing the configuration?

eg. IP:Port, DNS?

Thanks again
rabbit
It is the same as Serialmonkey posted on the 29th Oct:

Use the reset hole to set to factory defaults.

If you have a static IP set on the Nic (LAN Card), change it to Auto assign while you set up the AP.

Plug the AP direct to the NIC

Then in your Web Browser type 192.168.2.1

The username - admin
Password - 1234

Ok... Well there must be another problem.

Do you need a x-over cable from the NIC to the AP?

Cause when I reset, plug in and try to get an IP, it fails.
rabbit
Yes going from AP to NIC it is a crossover cable - on most modem/routers with auto sensing either works when connecting the AP.
Trennery
Thanks for your help rabbit.

It looks like the AP might just be mucking up.

I have just installed a wireless NIC in my desktop. Installed the drivers etc.

Tried connecting wirelessly to the AP, but it won't give me an IP.

This has happened with LAN cable and wireless NIC now.

Has anybody else experienced this problem?

Edit: I am sending packets to the AP, but none are being received from it.

The DHCP server may not be enabled on the device. I assume you have tried setting a static IP like 192.168.2.10 and pinging 192.168.2.1 ?

Ok... I finally got connected by putting alternative config 192.168.0.3 and default gateway.

Got 2 computers connected and on net.

But 192.168.1.2 isn't bringing up config page.
serialmonkey
If you have changed your IP to something like 192.168.0.* then you won't be able to access devices in 192.168.1.*. It sounds like someone has changed the IP on your MNWAPB from the default and your factory reset isn't working.

If you want I can show you how to use a tool like nmap to scan IP addresses in your network to see if you can find the device.

Hi,

I have this Access point and cannot locate it through ip scans etc. I can see activity between this and my PCMCIA card.

Is there any master reset for this device (other than the peset button on it).

Cheers

Grant
screwball
The only master reset is to hold the reset button for about 10 seconds.

Default IP is 192.168.2.1
Username - admin
pass 1234

However the unit does not have DHCP on when set to factory so set a statuic IP to your network card which you are connecting to the unit from (eg, 192.168.2.2) and then try.

Hope this helps.
