Having a issue with 3 access points all bought from my local supplier about 4-5 months ago.

Have been up and running for 4 months now and all of a sudden the Lan ports on all 3 access points will no longer work. I can access the ap's buy using a wirelesss device but no longer with them plugged directly into a hub ?

Any ideas anyone. ?

The warranty should be at least 12 months on these units ?

Any help would be appreciated. I have tried updating firmware no change.

Thanks

Did a factory reset help contacting the LAN port on the units?

Also have you tried with a different ethernet cable?

Seems strange that all three units went at the same time. No lightning in the area recently?

One of these units run POE 20m cable from the unit and the other unit was about 7km away. Have tried diffrent ethernet cables. The lan light on the hub lights up when the unit is plugged into it. But can not ping the minitar ip address.

The other unit runs standard 10m cat 5 cable and no link light at all shows up on the hub when this unit is connected to it.

There was some lightning few days ago but the units still worked fine , can lightning cause damage to these units lan ports ? if so then why is the lan ports them self not working but the wireless connection to the access point is working 100% ok ?

Tried a Factory Reset still no change.

Thanks Doolang

Do you have your roof-mounted setups properly grounded ? We have heard of these being hit by lightning and failing in this way.

Unfortunatly since POE isn't a supported configuration you may have trouble with warranty, depends where you purchased the units from (you have to deal directly with your place of purchase for warranty issues).

How do you factory reset this device?

do you just press the reset button or is there a trick?

I cannot access the 192.168.1.2 page.. my current ip is 192.168.1.5

Cheers

For the MNWAPB, press and hold the reset button for at least 10 seconds - most of the time up to 30 until you see the lights flash and the unit reboot.

I have had the same thing happen to me any resolutions on this?
i have tried crossover cables and normal cable, neither seemed to work, tho after a power up i got brief conection flickerings on switch and simultaneous flickerings on mnwapb. then silence. when i tried connecting direct to computer i got a hardware failure notification at one stage when trying to ping it
done hard resets everything. wireless is not an issue. just lan. I want to try reflashing the firmware ..but without lan i fear it will be no good ..can anything be done through serial port yet firmware 2.53 i think

The serial port is available under that firmware - but the issue you have sounds like a hardware issue with the ethernet port itself. We have had people report this issue when they use the AP in abnormal situations - like ontop of polls near lightning storms and during power surges.

Well it has been on non stop for over a year and a half so i guess i got a good run out of it, It wasnt on a pole but it was used for a mesh setup ...tho if the ap got affected then the switch it was connected to with 2 other wireles ap's houlda suffered as well ?

I have been looking in to this recently and I think the phyceiver chips are failing. one thing to try is use a "crossover" cable plugged directly in to a nic [not a switch]. some of my units with damaged phyceivers will let me log in this way. also it is sometimes possible to log in to them with a usb adaptor, and reprogram them to run in wds mode, but not always. best see the post I made in the modifications forum. I have some realtek phyceiver chips, and should be able to replace a damaged one on one of my minitars asap. at least it should confirm if the phyceiver chips are the problem.
