Hi, is there a custom firmware available to lower the data rate to eg 200k for the minitar ap? a user on my network is a tad clueless regarding bandwidth fairness. I am sick of changing his mac address on his remote minitar just so I can surf. I could throttle "him" of course but I would rather throttle his minitar.
thanks.

Not that I am aware of.

Wander over to http://rtl8181.sf.net and perhaps you could roll-your-own.

I have a port of frottle (frottle.sourceforge.net) for the Minitar, but you have to have a way of getting it on the box smile.gif

I'll stick up a link to it tomorrow on http://www.melbournewireless.org.au/wiki/?minitar#software

It may not work with the standard kernel as it needs some of the netfilter stuff in the kernel, especially the ip_queue code and libpthread. It should work ok with the romad kernel from rtl8181.sourceforge.net.

oops, corrected the link- thanks serialM

Pretty sure that link should be

Darn case-sensitive Wiki's ;-)

thanks for those tips, its a little bit out of my league, but if anyone has any success with a modified firmware for data rate throttling in the future, I would be most interested.
