It seams with 2.53 that adhoc still has mac rewite, witch sucks as i found adhoc+2mbit is good for longer disence links (140KB over 10km vs 30KB inbridge mode)

Is the device in station-adhoc mode ?
MAC rewrite should occur in this mode as it's a client mode function, not a bridge function.

No, it should. You are not understanding the purpose of the Station-adhoc mode.
Station-adhoc mode is built to allow a single machine that doesn't have a wireless connection to use the MNWAPB like an external wireless network adapter, hence the network interface for that machine before the MNWAPB - and all MAC's are rewritten.
If you don't want to MAC's to be rewritten then you want a layer-2 bridge mode like WDS.
