Full Version: AP not responding after reset

Hi all,

I have a Minitar MNWAPB and it has been working fine for months. Today I wanted to config it again and i couldn't remember the ip so i did a factory reset. Now i cannot access it at all. I cannot access it via 192.168.2.1 or wireless either. My laptop doesn't even pick it up in a site scan. I have an identical MNWAPB and have tried identical things with it today and it works perfectly.

The WLAN light is permanetly out. And now when i do a factory reset nothing happens. I can hold the button in for as long as i like and none of the lights even blink (maybe reset button is broken?). When i plug the lan cable in the lan light turns on and when i unplug it turns off so that is normal. When trying to access it over the lan the lan light will sometimes bink a couple of times, but that is about it.

All i get from my web browser is "the connection has timed out". I am pretty sure im not doing anything wrong as the other identical unit responds as it should.

Could this unit be fried? If so why? Just from pressing the reset button? I think it is about 1-2 years old.

Any help would be great.

Did you assign an IP to your Network Card before attempting to connect via the ethernet port?

You need to assign an IP in the range of 192.168.2.0 (eg... 192.168.2.2) so that you can connect to the interface on 192.168.2.1

DHCP by factory default is disabled.

Let us know how you go

Thanks for your reply screwball, but yes, i have an ip address in the range for my network card. My other MNWAPB after a reset responds perfectly. Im starting to think the hardware inside the little bugger has given up. Oh well, might be time to start using it as a paper weight. Any other sugestions are welcome. Thanks guys.

IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN!!

After my last problem and throwing my AP in the bin, I pulled out my spare identical AP and put it into service where the old one was. Now today it stoped recieving packets and i could not access it from the web config. So i have given it a reset but still no go. The lan light is on and flashes a bit and the WLAN light is flashing a fair bit but i cannot access it from either LAN or wireless.

What the heck is going on? These units were purchased around the same time, maybe 2 years ago. And they seem to be failing at the same time too. Is it possible these things have a certain life span or i got 2 from the same batch that were faulty?

Anyone got any ideas? Just 2 weeks ago i had to go out and buy another ap to replace the one that was not working. Now i have another one not working. Not happy!!

Ok thats strange..

What power supply for the units were you using? The same one or the one for the other unit?

Just trying to find a connection between the two failing.

Yes I was using the same power supply. Also i found out today that i can access the AP by wireless but not LAN, everything seems to work fine accessing the ap's config page at 192.168.2.1. Which is really not usefull to me as i need the LAN port. I tried flashing with new firmware over the wireless also, but no luck.

Do you think the power supply could have caused them to do these things?

Thanks for your help SB.

It is possible...

Try changing the Ethernet cable too as it may have a fault.

Lastly confirm the ethernet card is enabled (I know I am probably wrong in saying this) just to make sure it is enabled.

Hmm, yep everything is enabled and nothing is happening. It's all good. Looks like it is time to buy a new AP. Thanks SB.

Hello all

I have the same problem !!!

I'm confuse and the Minitar Official Site don't have User Manual in download tab...

I'm very disappointed

You don't have the same problem at all

Your problem is you cannot connect to the AP as you probably have not assigned an IP address to your Network card you are connecting from.

Please, start your own thread, explain you issue fully and STOP PM'ing admins with not enough information to resolve your problem.

We will assist when possible but don't hijack threads esp when the product you speak of is not even this one.

My MNWAPB did the same thing. It was working fine until I reset it and then nothing. I can't detect a wireless signal coming from it or access it through its ethernet IP. So it's been sitting in a box for 12 months gathering dust. I'd love to know how to fix it.
