Hi guys, thanks in advance for all the help you'd give to me.
I have almost ten Minitar 802.11B MNWAPB Wireless Access Point, coming from an old stock. None of them is working regularly: connecting the power cord lights up the green LED, connecting the LAN lights up teh respective LED: they all have the factory IP adrs (192.168.2.1) but no web interface at port 80: scanning the device via LAN connector the only port that work is port 21, but I can't get any character: connecting with FTP and with Telnet still at port 21 give the same result... Nothing!! Any idea to make them working? Are they completely out of order? (please note that AP have been resetted yet)
Thanks.....

Thanks for your query
1. Where did this stock come from?
2. Do you know if someone has tried to mod any of these AP's?
3. Have you tried a hard reset of the unit (hold down the reset button for 10 seconds)
Please let me know as to have all the unit's reacting in the same way is extermely unusual.

Thanks screwball.
1- These AP come from an electronic fair / exhibition, I got them from a stand where "everything for 2 euro - what you see is what you get - no guarantee at all - no refund" : I know this man, he cleans up the remaining stocks from large resellers (goods with broken packaging, refunded products, defective articles and so..) sometimes I found something working and sometimes not... For 20 euro I got ten AP, my idea was "if almost one works..."
2- I don't think that someone has tried to mod the APs
3- All the units have been resetted (reset hold down for almost 30 secs!)
4- What about port 21? can you explain why I have no reply, no prompt shell..? Do I have to connect with user and pwd?
5- Do you think I shall be able to connect via serial port? I would like to try, but I don't want to waste time with my soldering station if it will be useless!
Awaiting you, thanks.

It sounds like these units may have been modified. You probably would not be able to tell from the outside.
There is a lot of information in the forums associated to the MNWAPB Modification on how you maybe able to attain access to the unit
from a serial connection. We do not explain that way here.
Apart from that, I don't know what else to tell you.
BTW the unit's default address is 192.168.2.1 (from memory) and you need to assign your network card an IP in that range as the unit by default does not have DHCP enabled... if you have not done this you might want to try.

after a long time I had the chance to access the AP via serial. Uploading new firmware via TFTP was so easy... now my AP works fine with new firmware 2.53. All the APs (I got a stock from an electronic fair) are now OK!!!java script:bbc_pop()
