Full Version: Using A Mva11a With Usb Wireless Internet Access

I have a need to use a MVA11A with either a Vodafone USB Mobile Internet Access or a Big Pond 3G
USB Wireless Modem. Are there any tricks involved? I assume that if the internet access is shared, the device will see the Internet through the PC via the LAN.

What modem are you going to use with the MVA11A?

Have you ever done before any networking? Also how is your current setup configured?

Pop these details in and I should be able to assist.

I have done networking before and in this case currently using DHCP. The Modems are 3G ones that connect to the PC via USB. Over the weekend I had a flash of inspiration and thought of a second Network Card might work and connect to the WAN port on the Mva11a. This would allow a special IP Address, what are your thoughts.

Sounds like internet connection sharing which could get very messy.

Maybe, a new router might be the go. Billion I know make a ADSL/3G unit now which isn't that costly which has a fallback to 3G if you dont use the ADSL component. Could be a good option for you and less messy as you could infact have other computers online with this method if you have more than one without having to always turn on the main one.

It sounds possible the way you suggest, just very messy.
