I have two machines running XP home
One has a mobile Centrino chip and wireless communications and the other I brought a Wireless Lan Access Point to connect to enternet slot to run a wireless connection between the two machines.
I have tried and tried and tried and tried to set this up and the access point quite frankly is lucky I haven't thrown it across the room.
The instruction would be good if I could get past the TCP/IP setting
Please help
I have set both the ip address of both machine and can ping each machine however I cannot reliably access the minitar thru my browser to set-up

Hi there,
Can you please provide some more information so we can assist.
1. On the machine you are connecting the AP to have you set a static IP ? What IP ? What Subnet ?
2. Have you been able to access the web pages at all ?
3. Have you set the mode on the AP at all ? You will want Station-Adhoc I assume.

Hi
I am a little further ahead then I was but not much.
IP of machine connected to access point is 192.168.2.2
IP of machine wireless connected is 192.168.2.3 (connecting thru wirelss centrino)
both have subnet of 255.255.255.0
Both machines are running Windows xp
When I ping I can only ping each local machine and on the machine with access point I can also ping the access point. On the machine with wireless centrino I can ping its ip but not the access point.
I have changed the access point to station ad hoc but still no glory

Also make sure that the Centrino has the latest WLAN drivers as I have heard that the originals had some issues which were resolved in later versions.
Also put the AP into Station Inferstructure mode as I have found less issues with that.

Are you using a Crossover cable to connect the AP to your NIC? If not give it a go.
